This updated Fast Hybrid AF System employs a combination of 693 phase-detection points and 425 contrast-detection areas for quicker acquirement of focus in a variety of lighting conditions, and also maintains focus on subjects more effectively. In addition to speed and AF, the processing improvements also help to realize greater image clarity and reduced noise throughout the sensitivity range from ISO 100-51200, which can further be expanded to ISO 50-204800. Video recording capabilities have also been extended for enhanced quality when recording UHD 4K video with the full width of the full-frame sensor to minimize moiré and aliasing. Additionally, benefitting both stills and video operation, the a7 III utilizes a 5-axis SteadyShot INSIDE sensor-shift image stabilization, which is now effective to minimize the appearance of camera shake by up to 5 stops.
Beyond just updates to the imaging system, the a7 III’s body design has also been revised to include a rear 3.0″ 922k-dot touchscreen LCD, which has a tilting design to better support working from high and low angles. A 2.36m-dot Tru-Finder OLED EVF is also featured for bright and clear eye-level monitoring. For greater shooting flexibility, dual SD memory card slots are now featured, and a larger NP-FZ100 battery is also employed to achieve up to approximately 710 shots per charge. Suiting the camera’s use in trying conditions, the magnesium-alloy chassis and weather-sealing also render the a7 III dust- and moisture-resistant.

Continuous shooting is also supported at up to 5 fps for photographing moving subjects. The sensor also facilitates an advanced Dual Pixel CMOS AF system, with 4779 selectable on-sensor phase-detection points for quickly and accurately acquiring focus during stills and video operation.
Complementing the sensor and processor, the RP also sports a 2.36m-dot OLED electronic viewfinder along with a rear 3.0″ 1.04m-dot vari-angle touchscreen LCD monitor for easier viewing from high and low angles. Additionally, Wi-Fi and Bluetooth allow for wireless remote camera control along with direct image sharing to linked mobile devices.
Canon RF Lens Mount
The EOS RP features the RF lens mount, which support Canon’s line of RF-mount lenses. This mount is characterized by its wide 54mm diameter and short 20mm flange-back distance, which promotes the ability to design lenses that are both faster and smaller than their SLR equivalents. The mount also incorporates a 12-pin electronic contact system for more sophisticated autofocus and image stabilization capabilities. This mount design also lends full compatibility to existing EF and EF-S-mount lenses via an optional EF-EOS R Mount Adapter.

Atoch C2S CFast to SSD Solution for Blackmagic URSA, URSA Mini, and URSA Mini Pro (4K & 4.6K) (SHAC2SG1)The C2S CFast to SSD Solution from Atoch allows users of the 4K & 4.6K versions of the Blackmagic URSA and URSA Mini, as well as the URSA Mini Pro, to record footage captured by their camera directly onto SSDs, as compared to CFast cards. Operating as a “digital bulk loader,” the C2S has two 2.5″ / 9.5mm SATA drive bays, each of which is equipped with a wired CFast adapter that plugs directly into each of the CFast card slots on the URSA, URSA Mini, or URSA Mini Pro. Each 2.5″ drive bay supports SSDs up to 2TB, for a total storage capacity of 4TB, or the equivalent of 16 x 256GB CFast cards. Not only will the C2S negate the need to carry around multiple CFast cards, users will also be able to swap out drive media less frequently, as larger capacity SSDs are a more cost-effective purchase than CFast cards.
In dual card mode, the C2S supports up to 4.6K RAW recording at 60 fps. In single card mode, the C2S is able to record compressed RAW video at any resolution at all available compression levels, which are 3:1 for the 4K sensor and both 3:1 and 4:1 for the 4.6K sensor, as well as all available resolutions and frame rates of Apple ProRes. Additionally, when used with Atoch’s recommended SSDs, the C2S supports a greater maximum data rate than the 4.6K version of the URSA and URSA Mini are designed to output.
The Atoch C2S has helped to trim costs and streamline post-production workflows for many projects. This device is powered using the included D-Tap to DC cable and for those who wish to use 7mm SSDs within the C2S’ 9.5mm drive bays, two SSD spacers are also included.
